About the Role

We are seeking a professional like you to act as a technical specialist and resource to the Engineering Department assuring that operations are performed as efficiently as possible and in compliance with safety, product quality, occupational health, product registrations, environmental protection, process safety and according to customer requirements.

This role will own Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Process Safety Information, process material physical property data, lead troubleshooting efforts, and interact with Operations, Maintenance, and other operational support personnel. You will generate and manage MOC’s for your area of responsibility.


  • Lean / Six Sigma tools, understanding of process improvements in quality, productivity, cost and customer delivery

  • Demonstrate strong leadership in safe plant operation and adherence to BASF Occupational and Process Safety rules and policies

  • Experience in chemical and/or batch processes,

  • Support the daily and strategic equipment and controls to improve production rates and ensure customer demand is met.

  • Knowledge of process equipment and chemical processes, responsible for the ongoing optimization (both production and quality) of the site’s formulations against the site’s manufacturing capabilities

  • Knowledge of OHSA and Responsible Care

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment, knowledge of MOC’s (management of change)

  • Previous experience in a chemical/refining or similar manufacturing environment

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to the Daily Operational Team for plant problems

  • Closely monitor the process conditions and provide technical support and feedback to the Operations team.

  • Understanding of engineering principles and their practical application in a plant environment

  • Drive standardization across shifts and optimization of operating cost

  • Partner with other site/area functions for standardization and best practice sharing across the site.

  • Strong communication skills across all levels, you will work closely with other support groups like Maintenance to ensure that proper priorities are placed on items in the Maintenance backlog and will interface with suppliers, customers, and vendors as needed to maintain plant operation.

  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement, change management initiatives, leadership in root cause failure analysis for EHS, quality, and production incidents

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

  • Experience in DCS controls and/or PLC , general instrumentation and control valve problems

  • Expected to lead small to large projects that improve the safety, efficiency and quality of the site.

Your understanding of manufacturing operations and equipment will drive the optimization of scheduled and unscheduled downtime and overall cycle time improvements (Asset Effectiveness and AE tools) and assist the department in the coordination, planning, and execution of shutdown or turnaround work including maintenance and capital activities.

Qualifications

University Degree in a relevant field: Engineering Degree, BSC preferred

5-10 years’ experience preferred
