Plant Manufacturing Engineer

The Plant Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all manufacturing assembly equipment within the facility while adhering to the standards set out by the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to company standard equipment/tool specifications

  • Develop detailed RFQ's for new equipment, including both process flows and cycle times for each operation.

  • Participate and lead equipment design reviews and MOP activities.

  • Reliability analysis vs. FMEA and current manufacturing processes

  • Participate in design reviews

  • Procure equipment with involvement of plant engineering / manufacturing teams and purchasing department.

  • Commission manufacturing equipment from the selection phase through to the production phase (established with manufacturing)

  • Design ergonomically appropriate equipment

  • Assess design assumptions & risk, manufacturing feasibility, cost & timing (FMEA)

  • Determine preventative maintenance & repair costs for equipment (identify spare parts requirements)

  • Determine start-up or launch costs of assembly equipment

  • Determine appropriate parameters & production controls based on customer product specifications

  • Record parameters, production processes, tracking & documentation in database

  • Analyze manufacturing efficiency & conduct problem solving & corrective action

  • PCP adherence & complete all required documentation

  • Provide cost analysis justifications for capital investments (PAR’s)

  • Sign off equipment at integrators cycle times)

  • Support quote team activity and R&D activity on the acquisition team

Experience and Educational Background

  • Electrical / Mechanical / Plastic Processing Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with automotive injection molding, controls, processing & assembly related equipment

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • D.O.E., problem solving & statistical methods training

  • Value Analysis / Value Engineering planning & experience

  • Injection Molding Experience

  • Dynamic communication / inter-personal skills.

  • Fluency in English is mandatory. Bilinguals is an asset (German, Spanish)

  • Highly organized and possess good decision-making skills.

  • Must have demonstrable technical presentation skills.

  • Superb computer literacy, including MS Office

  • CAD experience is preferred.

  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.

  • Working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO14001, ISO45001 standards, as applicable to the position.

  • Facility planning and line balancing principles
