About the Role
The Opportunity:
Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Chief Financial Officer who will report to the CEO and be responsible for managing the company’s financial affairs in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational goals. The CFO will be a key member of the executive management team and oversee all financial-related activities, including accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, legal, property management, contract analysis, investor relationships, and financing. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Financial Management and Financial Planning
Develop and implement strategies to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the organization’s financial performance
Provide timely and accurate financial analysis of budgets, reports, and trends to assist the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Management team
Maintain strong relationships with Executive Management to identify business needs and seek solutions
Oversee financial reporting, analysis, and projections to ensure accuracy and timely completion
Collaborate with the CEO to prepare an annual fiscal budget for approval by the Board of Directors
Manage budget tracking, accounting, and reporting within the company and ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
Measure and communicate performance to targets monthly, and develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism
Review costs of raw materials, components, and labour service charges
Review capital expenditure requests and arrangements for additional finance-funds
Develop a strategic financial plan in coordination with the CEO and Executive Management team
Provide financial insight to strengthen and validate strategic decisions
Create financial outlook reports and ensure company funds are sufficient
Budget, forecast, and help oversee current and future investments and capital structures
Provide financial and strategic input into financing agreements, potential mergers or acquisitions, and customer or supplier/vendor agreements
Collaborate with the Executive Management team to develop monthly strategies for profitability improvement
Provide leadership in the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives
Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action
Participate in the development of the company’s plans and programs as a strategic partner
Business Development
Advise on methods to increase revenue and reduce costs, and advise on long-term business and financial planning
Provide financial and strategic input into financing agreements, potential mergers or acquisitions, and customer or supplier agreements
Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges
Risk Management and Compliance
Assess and minimize financial risks, stay abreast of market changes, and communicate risks to the CEO
Ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory financial and legal requirements, and company policy
Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Board of Directors and relevant stock exchange
Develop and review all formal finance-related procedures
Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
Ensure effective internal controls and compliance with applicable regulatory laws
People Leadership
Provide leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team
Develop and coach the financial team to increase efficiencies and meet department objectives
Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline
Continuously improve the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues
Provide financial input and leadership on issues affecting the organization
Provide financial advice on contracts into which the corporation may enter
Establish and develop relationships with external partners and stakeholders
Provide timely and regular reporting to shareholders
Promote the company with integrity to potential investors, employees, suppliers, customers, and vendors
Other duties and responsibilities as required
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
CPA / CA designation is required
8-10 years experience in a senior leadership financial role
Well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations
In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
Ability to analyze, strategize and solve problems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written
Excellent leadership abilities with the ability to manage a team and engage with staff at all levels of the organization
High level of ethics, integrity, and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software
Complimentary Experience:
An MBA would be considered an asset
Previous experience in the manufacturing industry is considered an asset
